Water: Handel, but not only…

WORLD WATER DAY 2012
March 22, 2012
Merkin Hall, NYC
Presented by Mehri Madarshahi

Tonight we are celebrating two major event both related to our blue planet: the arrival of the Spring coinciding with Persian New Year and the World Water Day established by the United Nations. Thank you for being with us. Given the importance of the day, Association Melody for Dialogue among Civilizations along with its partners have organized a magnificent concert all about Water and its importance for life.

as we speak close to 1 billion people around the world live without potable water and 3900 children die every day from water-borne diseases. Of these global estimates, Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for more than a third.

Lack of safe water and adequate sanitation are regarded as the top causes of illnesses and diseases in the world. This problem become more acute as the world populations increases (now 7 billions) and as 1 out of three percent of the total drinkable water on our earth is becoming undrinkable due to pollutions and waste.

unless urgent actions are taken to reverse the trend, the lives and livelihood of millions of people will be at risk.

The program tonight will reflect on all these reality.  Our selected compositions are accompanied with video images in the background where we convey importance messages on how all of us could be of help and how through our individual actions we can help sustainability of water and become an advocate for awareness of others. Let’s hope for the day that we are all part of the solution and through our individual actions save our blue planet. Thank you and enjoy the program.
